The use of a
high ozone shock treatment to remove smoke odors as well as
other odors.
HIGH OZONE SHOCK TREATMENT PROCEDURE
is usually the best approach to remedy the mold, smoke and most
other offending odors.
The process of a High Ozone Shock
Treatment procedure
(IN UNOCCUPIED SPACES DURING TREATMENT)
is to eliminate the initial contamination from the air and then
provide continuous control over recurring contamination by the
use of a small ozone generator if necessary. However a small
ozone generator will not generate enough ozone to be effective
in eliminating mold, mildew, bacteria and odors. Therefore the
application of a high ozone shock
treatment is effective in eliminating mold, mildew,
bacteria and odors. Then use a very small ozone generator to
maintain the area. However not recommended when occupied.
First the extent of the odor problem must assessed in order to
determine the amount of the ozone that would be required to
sufficiently eliminate the problem odor in a reasonable period
of time. Once we have chosen the ideal size of ozone generator
for the particular treatment area, the ozone generator will be
placed pointing in the direction of the problem area. Strong
fans will be placed throughout the area being treated to provide
good ozone distribution. The ozone generator will be operated at
it's highest capacity for as long as it takes to eliminate the
odor problem. In most cases it takes only a few minutes to an
hour to do a shock treatment. If it is a type of odor that is
absorbed in furniture, walls and bedding, for example, cigarette
smoke, takes approximately 30-120 minutes with the proper sized
ozone generator. After the shock treatment procedure is
complete, the room is aired out before being occupied. Severe
cases may require a 24 + hour treatment. Milder cases use a
lower output setting. While performing a high ozone shock
treatment, all people, pets, plants and other animals must be
vacant from the area to be treated.
This procedure is also used for treating rooms with odors, smoke
damaged furniture, clothing, auto restorations, garbage rooms,
basements, or anywhere an odor problem exists.
Ozone Shock Treatment to clean air
The term "ozone shock treatment"
refers to the introduction of efficient levels of ozone in order
to eliminate odors and greatly reduce or destroy bacteria,
viruses, mold, mildew and fungus from both air and surfaces. You
may be familiar with ozone air purifiers, and may or may not be
too sold on their capabilities. This is because the levels of
ozone produced by these units are insufficient for odor control
and surface sterilization. They are running in occupied rooms,
where lower levels of ozone are desired.
An ozone treatment in your home will
require you and your family to vacate your home for four to
eight hours depending on size of area to be treated.
Ozone generators are positioned and run on self timers, and will
shut off one hour prior to re-entry and airing of your home.
Ozone is used for sterilizing everything from commercial
bottling plants, swimming pools, vegetable and fruit processing
and storage to meat, poultry and other food products. In the
indoor air quality field it has many benefits, however, in order
to maximize them a professional service company should be
employed.
